Stage Chat

Audience edition

August 2003

From the President

Welcome to another Stage Chat, keeping you informed of what’s happening at DTC!

Despite the cold weather, a keen cast for our production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat has been enthusiastically braving the elements to attend rehearsals.  (See our cast list below!)  We are well on track to provide a very entertaining and visually exciting production in September.

Although Joseph is our main focus at the moment, we have already started preparing for our first musical of 2004 – Carousel.  A brief synopsis is included in this newsletter.

Let’s not forget our play in January.  We’ll let you know more about that and Carousel in our next newsletter.

Stephen Oakes, DTC President

Carousel – brief synopsis

In 1873 in a small New England village, there is a love affair between Billy Bigelow, a travelling carnival man, and Julie Jordan, a local factory worker.  Desperate for money after learning that he is soon to become a father, Billy is killed during an attempted robbery.  Several years later, when he is allowed to return to earth for a short time, he seeks out the daughter of his union with Julie…
